Jack,

I stand corrected about IBM's 5250, which they now call iSeries Access for Linux. It does require an OS/400 license.

But TN5250J is downloaded as a jar. My startup script just runs it as any jar: (all one line)

/usr/local/j2re1.4.2_04/bin/java -classpath /usr/local/etc/jt400/jt400.jar -jar -mx48m /usr/local/tn5250j/tn5250j.jar -s EDIT -s USLIB -s BLLIB -s DAFFRON -s SQL -s SPOOL -s MESSAGES -s BILLPRTAL3 -s BILLPRTDAF

The jt400 jar is only needed if you want the Upload/Download features.

It been complete enough for my needs for a year or two. It IS a bit sluggish and not suitable IMHO for high speed keying. But as a programmer, it works for me.

Not knocking anybody here, just curious if folks were aware of them...

Take Care..

al

Just curious why this project exists when IBM has a very good 5250

Which I don't have, since I'm not an AS400 owner, just a timeshare renter.

and TN5250J runs on any Java VM.

If you can get around to building it, which is non-trivial, in addition
to which the TN5250J open source project shows some signs of neglect
(check out the mail archives).
