I don't know how to branch cvs. If we are decided can someone make a branch that matches current cvs and then I'll start making the changes to cvs HEAD?

Done. I actually created the branch as of the start of this year, pre-dating the other changes you've checked in, to make a clean break. The branch is named b0-17, and the branch point tag is root-b0-17.

For reference, the commands were:

    cvs rtag -D 2005-01-01 root-b0-17 tn5250
    cvs rtag -b -r root-b0-17 b0-17 tn5250
