Isn't Imakefile/xmkmf there for that?

While imake would solve this problem, autoconf is far more common these days and the tn5250 project uses autoconf, so x5250 should too. We should at least be able to add some option like --x11-app-defaults=<location> to ./configure that has some sensible default.
