Luis, We need more details. I understand that they're stopping & starting the writer. But, saying "they start and stop the writer and lp5250d doesn't work" isn't enough information. So, please... When the writer stops and/or starts, what happens? Do you get an error? Does lp5250d stop running? Does the printer malfunction in some way, and if so, what way? Have you tried using the normal lpd instead of lp5250d? Does a print using lpr on the FreeBSD machine work? Do they do anything else besides just ending the writer? Do they vary it off, and then back on again?
