[LINUX5250] Updates to 0.16.x branch

Hi,

I went over the 0.16.x branch and added fixes for most of the issues that
have been fixed in 0.17.x.   The gist of it is that anything that seems
stable in 0.17 has been added to 0.16...

The exceptions are:  3270-related code, the use of glib, and python stuff.


I'm doing all of this in the hopes that it will encourage someone to 
either make a new release, or tell me know to do a new release myself :)


to try out the 0.16.x branch:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.tn5250.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/tn5250 login
# at the password prompt, hit enter
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.tn5250.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/tn5250 \
 checkout -r b0-16 -d tn5250-0.16 tn5250
cd tn5250-0.16
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
make install

As always, you'll need autoconf, automake and libtool to build from CVS.
(You do not need glib-devel for the 0.16.x branch)
