Kylix relies in 3 different versions. 1 server edition (commercial) 1 desktop editon (commercial) 1 Open Edition (GPL) but all the programs you make with this version you must make the GPL-licence. This version is a free version as long as your written program is Open Source. I downloaded the Open Distribution (and the company bought the Destop Edition) and it looks as the same as visual basic for windows. There is a difference between the commands in this two programming- languages but if you ever programmed in VB or VBA, Kylix feels very comfortable to use... developing software has never been that easy in Linux i suppose.
