I had a customer with that same problem recently and he applied the latest TCP/IP Print Session Enhancement PTFS and he hasn't had a recurrance. V4RxMx TCP/IP PC5250 Printer Session Fixes for OS/400 - Current as of 05/31/2000 The following PTFs are general fixes for configuring PC5250 Printer Session over TCP/IP protocol: |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| | |R410 (5769) |R420 (5769) |R430 (5769) |R440(5769) | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xxTC1 |SF60365 (1000)|SF60530 (1000)|SF60463 (0077) |SF61175 (0147) | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xx999 |MF23706 (1000)|MF23982 (1000)|MF24191 (1000) |MF24192 (0147) | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xxSS1 |SF52402 (1000)|SF59303 (1000)|SF62651 (0077) |SF62653 (1000) | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xxSS1 | |SF47792 (1000)|SF52102 (9131) | | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xxSS1 | |SF48804 (1000)| | | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xxSS1 | |SF47400 (8265)| | | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| |57xxSS1 | |SF51355 (9068)| | | |---------+--------------+--------------+---------------+----------------| Remember to read the cover letters for them. I've created a scenario where a document is generated on the AS/400 using different size fonts, graphics, etc. the print file is set up as an *AFPDS type, if that matters. Of course, I'm using Host Print Transform to convert the data to my printer's language, and lp5250d as a transport to get it to from the AS/400 to the PC. Okay, here's the problem... When I print this document the first time, it works great. But the 2nd one causes the AS/400 to say that the print writer ended abnormally. The job log states: Message . . . . : Error on device PI. Device response code is 6136. Cause . . . . . : SNA protocol error. There is a probable device error. Recovery . . . : Device response codes and their meanings follow: 80040000-Incorrect device address. 20040000-Direction error. 08130000-Bracket bid not supported. 6130-Incorrect data received. 6150-Partial chain received. 6136-Unexpected response received. 6138-System cannot obtain send state. Close the file QPSPLPRT in QSYS and try the request again. If the error occurs again, enter the ANZPRB command to run problem analysis. If I end and restart lp5250d, It does the same thing -- works for the first spool file, the 2nd one causes it to end with this error again. I tried the same thing with both LPR/LPD (directly from the AS/400 to the UNIX box) and with RUMBA under Windows, and did not have any problems, so its not the document. Any ideas?
