But I'm willing to take credit anyway. :-) Regarding the freebsd patch. The script portion of makefile.am looks cool, but unfortunately, the bsd files are overwriting the linux files in /usr/local/share/tn5250. I'm going to look into a better way for us to handle the platform difference when installing. I'll definately include your stuff though.
