Subject: Re: Fw: More hurdles: installing SuSE on OS/400; can't

Hi Tommy. I tried to reply earlier to the Linux/400 discussion address,
but it didn't seem to register. We're running SLES9 on iSeries here,
and when we do installs, we set up the *STMF a little differently.
You've got it pointed to the raw ISO image. We mount the ISO image on
/qopt and reference the install kernel explicitly, e.g.
"/qopt/su90.001/install". The WRKLNK command is useful for browsing the
Unix-like file system within the iSeries.

OK, well whatever I'm doing now is blasted borked. I am so frustrated. It
isn't working. So PLEASE, if you would, explain how you "mount the ISO
image on /qopt"

Another thing that might be useful: if you open the virtual console
before you vary the partition on, you can see the firmware boot
messages, and if there is a problem with the IPL configuration, there
will usually be an error message there.

The only thing my !@#$ console ever says is: """
Enter the console partition number:
4
LINUX01: Enter OS/400 service tools userid:
*******
LINUX01: Enter OS/400 service tools password:
LINUX01: Console connecting...
"""

ARGGG!!!!
