The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

VisualAge hasn't been a supported product for 15 years or more.
RDi is based on Eclipse. You can develop RPG or Java in RDi. RDi is not free. Eclipse is free. If you are not already using RDi, I'd use Eclipse to start with. You do not need a special IDE to write Java programs you intend to run on IBMi (or connect to IBMi). I've used Eclipse for Java development for over a decade and recommend it.

oh wait... i can't bring myself to buy a book when so much online.
What IDE are other IBMi developers (with rpg backgrounds) using for Java on
an i framework?
Does RDI provide opportunity? Is visualAge just out of the question these
days?
