In most J2EE compliant shells you can put a WAR file in the webapp path and
it will auto-deploy. WebSphere and EAR's require some extra work.
wsadmin is a jython shell. It reads and executes jython (python) scripts.
You can go into the IFS remotely with QSHELL and a 5250 emulator and work
with wsadmin. wsadmin is an ordinary .sh file that launches a JVM that
embodies the python interpreter. Install the WebSphere tools for eclipse;
there's a python editor in it that includes prompting for the wsadmin
objects like AdminTask and AdminConfig. The -f option in the wsadmin command
line is the name of a .py script wsadmin interprets.
