You can use java.io package though the QNTC file system to a network share. Be prepared for numerous exceptions if you do. SAMBA is much friendlier.

From a Java/Tomcat web app running on the IBM i, we are trying to access
and read PDF files stored on a PC server that is on the network.  We are
are using java.io.File.
