FWIW. When I use an open source cross platform Java application IGood trick, and I'll keep it in mind.
usually hack the shell script it invokes and directly set the
JAVA_HOME. The first few lines of my JRuby shell has this:
JRUBY_BASE=/usr/local/jruby-1.6.2
JRUBY_HOME=/usr/local/jruby-1.6.2
JAVA_HOME=/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk60/32bit
