Java class returnin value to calling program

Please be easy with me as I am very new to java and learning as I go with
trial and error.



High level overview:

I have a class (purchased a library of classes) I pass the class a value
when calling/executing it (in a CL)

The class does some processing and comes up with a value



I got this to work, but the value generated by the class displays on the
screen.



I want the value returned back to the calling CL program.

Is this possible?

If not how can I get the value generated by the class back into my CL
program?



Any help and/or direction would be greatly appreciated
