This is on V5R3M0. The same code works fine on V5R4M0, V6R1M0 and V7R1M0.

Do you have Java 1.4 installed on the system?

The PBEKeySpec class was added in 1.4 (http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/crypto/spec/PBEKeySpec.html)
