Hi Thorbjørn,

I'm happy with my decision to use a separate non-AS/400 box for the web
server, so I won't be able to help specifically. However, when downloading
Glassfish for my current project, I did note a general zip download in
addition to platform specific installers. Maybe I just missed it
previously, but hadn't noticed it before. This was the first time for a V3
install.

In the previous discussion, was the install on a Linux partition or on
the AS/400 with PASE? I'm just wondering if the zip works straight ahead on
the AS/400, PASE issues or not, in case I work with a client who won't
follow my (eminently sensible, of course ;-)) logic.

Meanwhile, the Geico news is that in my current project I'm getting to
use the Sun (er, Oracle) 64 bit JVM. I'm happy to report no issues so far,
although I had to research a fairly obscure means of installing Glassfish as
a service on Windows Server 2008 64 bit.

Jetty is usually reliable and often the professional's choice for just a
web server. I generally use Glassfish even when JEE is not involved. You
might check their forums and bug reporting for any issues with OpenFaces JSF
and vice versa with OpenFaces. Again, I can't help specifically; I use
RichFaces. Are you using the Apache front end or is Jetty handling
everything?

Subject: Glassfish 3.0.1 on the AS/400.

Back in January we discussed if Glassfish 3 could run on the AS/400, and
found that the standard distribution did not work well in PASE.

I am now in a situation close to a deadline where my OpenFaces JSF 2.0 web
application code works well under Glassfish 3.0.1 on my PC but gives some
obscure stack trace when wanting to do a very specific Ajax call when
running in an embedded Jetty 6 container on the AS/400.

I'd like to hear if anybody got around to get Glassfish up and running on
the AS/400 since? Embedded will be fine.

Anyone?

Thanks.

/Thorbjørn
