| Would anyone advise for or against changing the default JVM from Classic
to the 32 bit version on V5R4?

Changing the system wide default JVM would not be recommended. Other JVMs on
the system (including those supplied by IBM) may not react well to the
default JVM version being changed. Instead have your specific JVM invoke a
specific version of Java.

| Where would you make a global change for the default?

Go to the infoCenter and look for SystemDefault.properties or for the java
section on how to set the JVM for a specific process.

| Hey I just upgrade from V5R3 to V5R4 on Sunday and I want to improve my
| JAVA performance. ( We are calling a JAVA stored procedure from an IIS
| web server. Don't ask me why I would love the developer to rewrite in
| RPGLE and take JAVA out of the equation.)

Have the submitted jobs run in their own (adequately sized) memory pool, and
use one of the IBM Technology for Java 32bit JVMs.
