You will need the Java Toolbox for AS/400 to do this. Download the one suitable for your system from http://sourceforge.net/projects/jt400/files/. I've used the 5.0 version for years.

Then create a small Java program - just a normal application with a main() method - that does what you need, and then show us the code. Depending on what you need to do there are several approaches to get this right.
