I found that the classes I needed to work with could work fine under Java
1.5, so I'm using that. I hate to leave the question of why 1.6 isn't
working unanswered, but that's deadlines for you. =) Now it's just a matter
of finding a port I can use and getting the thing going. Thanks for all
your help!


Apparently option 10 is classic 6 which should respect the java.version
variable. I do not know why not and I don't have access to a machine
with Java 6 on it. It is just my experience that silent failures may
have many reasons and that missing installations is one of the more
frequent.
