What is a .ear file? Well.. I'm listening?

I know it's corny, but I couldn't resist.

Here's what wiki has to say
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EAR_(file_format). Can you just put those in your classpath like a normal jar? Or are these assumed to be running through some specific application server?

Can anyone point me to a reference that has an example of using IBM's Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM) Windows-based single-signon to gain authenticated access to iSeries resources?

Justin, IBM ships an example program with the system:

\QIBM\ProdData\OS400\security\eim\testidnetitytoken.ear
