Don't know what you mean, but i bet Sun is more into being
"standards compliant" than IBM in the long run. Because they
do not have the market power of IBM (or M$), but they are the
inventor and gatekeeper of Java technology. It's not in their interest
to go their "own" way with Java, as MS tried to do (if thats what you
meant). IBM plays nice now, but only because they couldn't compete
with M$ propietary garbage and were almost dead in the beginning of
the '90s. And this is a strategy that makes them a lot of money, i.e. be
the "nice guy" and make much money with services (supporting all that
M$ crap which flooded the business floors last 20 yrs).

I think it's at least a good thing Eclipse has some competition (and a good
one that is).

Netbeans has a lot of features, but Eclipse has more. I like Netbeans because
it gives me more than enough features, and it works more "out of
the box". It's more integrated, it seems.
