Thanks David:

I just tried that and it works.

This is the script
==============
ls | java -cp /java/Susan/sshutils/dist log.ReadStdIn 1013
==============

1013 is just a parameter to pass it for testing / demo.

Question!

What happens if when you have a longish command to pipe into another
longish command?

ftps bunch_of_params | java -cp /kindoflong Class ?$

How would I get the java program Class to read the stderr (or stdout) of

the QShell it runs in?

Can stderr (or stdout) be re-directed to stdin then call java Class?

I am looking for something quicker than redirecting stderr (or stdout)
to
a file then reading the file with the Java program.
You could probably pipe the output of the sftp program into the java
program and, in the java program, read using System.in.
sftp blah blah 2>&1|java class parms
'2>&1' redirects stderr to stdout.
