XP does as far as I know not use more than 3Gb on a 32-bit machine, due to some exotic hardware limitation.

Please also note that XP aggressively swaps out non-foreground applications to disk, so when you e.g. go back to WSDCi it needs to read back in hundreds of megabytes of memory which is rather slow.

There is an Eclipse plugin which tricks XP so it isn't swapped out, but I haven't tried it personally.
