Hi Mike,

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:

That's your primary problem. It says to me that the API was compiled
under 1.5, which had language changes and uses a new class version number
not recognized by previous versions.

I honestly don't know about WDSC; you might be able to jury rig it to
compile with 1.5. However, your big problem will be running WebSphere prior
to 6.1. It wants, and requires so far as I know, 1.4.2 ( for WAS 6.x. )
That means even if you get it to compile with WDSC, WebSphere will blow out.

Other than moving to WAS 6.1, which I'll be doing for a client so that
web services can use annotations among other things, you'll need to see if
the vendor has a version compiled under 1.4 or look to something else.

There are a lot of benefits to 1.5, so I'd recommend moving to WAS 6.1
if possible, although I'm sure you don't want to do that just for a single
API. Check with your vendor; it may just be an oversight on their part
since they probably don't want to kiss goodbye to everyone prior to WAS 6.1.

Subject: How to use Java 5 in WDSC....

Hi:

We have a vendor supplied API which is causing the following errors when I
try to run it in WDSC 5.1.2, using JDK 1.3. Their suggestion is to try to
run it in a Java 5 environment. Does either WDSC 5.1.2 or WDSC 6.0.1 allow
you to use Java 5? If not, any ideas on other alternatives? Has any one
seen this type of error before?

Thanks
