What does the newString prototype look like? Gary
-----Original Message----- From: java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Pantzopoulos - (H/O) Sent: Thursday, February 22, 2007 7:16 PM To: java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Java/RPG Parameter Type Mapping When I instantiate a string with a statement such as: eval profileStr= newString('asanovl') it works correctly ( I can subsequently use the String object.) When I try and feed in this value from a CL caller passing it in as a 10A to the newString: c *entry plist c parm usrpf 10 c eval profileStr= newString(usrpf) I get: Pointer not set for location referenced. If I try it as a varying value: d userid S 10A varying c eval userid= usrpf c eval profileStr= newString(userid) I get: Pointer not set for location referenced. What am I doing wrong? I thought the input to the String constructor was a byte arry? ************************************************************** ******************************************* This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
