Barbara,

Now that I can view the error trace, the exception is:

javax.jms.JMSException: MQJMS2005: failed to create MQQueueManager for
'RD037AA'.

RD037AA is the correct Queue Manager name.

The relevent code is:
// Create MQ connection
factory = new MQConnectionFactory();
factory.setQueueManager(queueManager);
destination = new MQQueue(queue);
connection = factory.createConnection();

This works fine and sends the MQ message when called from Qshell but fails
when the same set of classes is called, using the same constructor, from RPG
on attempting to create the connection.

I am using the same interactive session for both call types so my
profile/environment variables are unchanged, the java.version is the same
(1.3) and os.version=V5R3M0.

Thanks,

Keith

An exception is thrown on attempting to create the connection. The
variables queue & queueManager appear to be populated ok.

What exception?

If that class has any version-specific methods, it could be a JRE version
problem. You might have to explicitly specify the java.version property.

By the way, when you use ACTGRP('test'), you won't be able to reclaim the
activation group since it has lower-case letters.
