I agree, there are a lot of differences. Has anybody ever heard about Caravel TransTools? This claims to be a conversion tool. I have looked at some sample code and it is 'java' in a word but not really. You cannot take the converted .java source file and compile it with your normal sdk on your desktop(even after supplying all the required libraries, .jars, etc, etc..). You have to do it in their 'framework' which is configured to work with iSeries commands and other such intricate stuff. I was told that it is a very steep learning curve to get used to that framework. Is that right? Please feel free to throw any kind of advice. I am all ears at this end... cheers, Jake. Any input in this matter would be highly appreciated. There are tools that do that ... but personally, I would be very leary of any tool that claims to be able to convert with a high degree of accuracy ... the language paradigm differences between RPG & Java are just so huge. david
