I had an improvement on my original idea: > You could code the "getColumn()" method to always return a Java > String. Then in the RPG program, convert the string to a RPG datatype. Instead of retruning a String, have the "getColumn()" method return a Java object. Then you can use the "instanceOf() method to find out what the actual class is at runtime.
