Mike I was in your shoes about 9 months ago when our management announced one day "no more RPG development, period". I had limited Java programming knowledge having taken the course at: http://www.ibmuser.com/train/dsfolder/ajv1ds.htm Then a buddy noticed a course at a local college about J2EE development using WebSphere Studio. The course was exactly what we needed at just the right time. Our text was: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0471281573 I've also found the following books quite helpful: Head First Servlets and JSP: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0596005407 Sams Teach Yourself JavaServer Pages 2.0 in 24 Hours: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0672325977 For me the best way to learn was to work on a project. I've done several J2EE applications in the past few months but still have tons to learn. You can be productive with just a limited knowledge of Java. Best of luck to you.
