Anybody got any familiarity with Java-based, platform-independent license managers?
No, and I know this is the Java list but ...
We've got a Java-based AS/400-connectivity product we'd like to be able to release, but without any AS/400-resident components, we can't very well tie the authorization code to a specific model/serial/LPAR, the way we do our other products.
Why not create a very thin host component containing only a product library, product definition, and product load objects? Then you can call the OS/400 licensing APIs from Java via the Remote Command Host Server to verify or acquire a licence.
