If you have an iSeriesNetwork subscription I just wrote an article in the
March '05 issue that covers a lot of these topics (parsing XML with Java,
etc)

If you don't have a subscription, try creating a "Dynamic Web Project" in
WDSc and then create an XSD (XML Schema Definition) file. Right click on
that file and locate the option to generate Java Beans. That should give
you a good start. From there look at the help included with WDSc in
relation to the actions you just performed to create the Java beans from the
XSD file.

Check out IBM's parser functionalities included in WDSc. Quite nice if
you
ask me, and obviously it will be supported by IBM.

Subject: JAVA Vs DB2 XML Extender

Hi Folks,

We are now getting requests to use XML data on Iseries, but we
are still debating what will be the best approach.

If we use Java then, are there any parsers available supplied by
reliable vendors so that we can reply on support if needed.

If we use DB2 extenders then, am I correct in thinking that you
cannot validate your xml data instance against any schemas.

I'm sure a lot of shops have debated this and have come to some
conclusions.

I would like to hear their approach and any views that they
might have in hindsight.

	Many Thanks in advance.
