Marty, Thanks for that, good to know cheers Colin.W http://as400blog.blogspot.com -----Original Message----- From: Urbanek, Marty [mailto:Marty_Urbanek@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 07 April 2005 19:07 To: java400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: How can I increase memory allocation? The -Xmx parm on the java command controls the max memory allocation for the JVM. The -Xms parm controls garbage collection interval, which is different from some other platforms on which it controls the minimum memory allocation. Not specifying anything for -Xms will default to garbage collect every 2MB of objects allocated. This can really burn some CPU by running GC very frequently. You don't want to go too high either. You probably want something like -Xms32m for a uniprocessor iSeries. -Marty -- This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
