Hi Alison,

you have to configure https on the iSeries.

1. Do a GO LICPGM, Option 10 and see if you have this:
5722SS1 34 OS/400 - Digital Certificate Manager.

2. You'll probably also need: 5722AC3 *BASE Crypto Access
Provider 128-bit for AS/400 or AC1, depending on where you
are. These are free. DCM is on the load CDs, AC3 (or AC1)
can be obtained from your Business Partner.

3. Start the iSeries web admin server
STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN)

4. url http://<your iseries>:2001 will give you the iSeries
web config.

5. Use the Digital Certificate Manager to config a *system
certificate store and you might also import the vendor's
certificate into the iSeries.

Best regards,
Magne

We are on as AS400 running V5R2 (V5R3 works the same). Java
Version 1.4.2
We are trying to use a vendor supplied java client to
connect to their
(vendor's) website via HTTPS. This client works in
nonsecure mode going to
an http site but fails as soon as we go to https. We are
getting the
message:

java.net.MalformedURLException: unknown protocol: https

Press ENTER to end terminal session.

We are using the following string to initiate the program
thru qshell:

java -
Djava.protocol.handler.pkgs=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.prot
ocol

-verbose -cp .:. (list of jars)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
