John,

You can propagate environment variables to submitted jobs. The problem
is the default behavior is to not propogate. I change the default. Java
and some service program changes require a new job to pick up changes.
Avoid making mistakes by using unit tests and develop/test/debug on a PC
then deploy to the iSeries.

I'm wondering though why initial environment values can't be set with a
job
description, in the same way as library lists.
Is that due to the usual reason (ie only 24 hours in a working day) or
has
the job description design fallen out of favour?

Regards,
John
