>> The rumors of RPG's demise have been greatly exaggerated. I just got off the phone today with Kelly Schmotzer ..... that RPG is the key strength of the iSeries. Kelly gets it, Doug Fulmer gets it, but sadly their boss Al Zollar doesn't. >> Anybody who thinks that IBM is suggesting that RPG is going to go away or that Java is IBM's direction for the iSeries, now is a good time to let me know why you think that. The "suggestions" are no longer overt (like the hamburger ad) but are more insidious. "Visits" by senior IBMers nearly always seem to leave the impression that following the Roadmap to the complete replacement of RPG is the only way to go. Part of the problem is that there isn't really a single road map. The version that some IBMers use is much less "get rid of RPG" in its orientation than others. Java as _the_ iSeries direction? Well if you include WebSphere, JSPs etc. in the term "Java" it is a pretty clear message isn't it? Jon Paris Partner400 www.Partner400.com
