I guess it depnds on the programmer.  I bet I can write an MRP generation
faster in RPG than you can in Java.  Not only that, mine will run faster and
be easier to add features.

That is maybe where we differ.  Our next generation of apps most likely
isn't going to be green screen which it sounds like that is what you are
doing, correct?  We have a business requirement to create GUI apps but that
doesn't mean we have to have the business logic in Java/.NET.  What I am
trying to figure out is where to draw the seam in the Java and RPG world.
It would be great if I could just do my presentation, business logic, and
data layer all in one language but being that RPG doesn't do GUI natively I
have been in search of a means to an end in how to structure my software
architecture.  We have tried PCML and SQL UDF's but those have some
limitations that require the RPG programmer to know that Java might call
them and thus dictate how the parameters are passed, etc.  Sure I could use
Jwalk or Web Facing, but that seems like a temporary stepping stone (we have
Jwalk in our corporation) to more mature and less maintenance intensive
tools.

Just some thoughts.
