You may want to check if you or your system has a SystemDefault.properties file. We have seen even if you execute Java from the QIBM path, if you have a java.version property set, it uses that version. This is probably equivalent to setting your JAVA_HOME env var. For example, I have java.version set to 1.3. and running java from jdk14 returns a 1.3.1 version in QShell /QIBM/ProdData/Java400/jdk14/bin/java -version java version "1.3.1" You can find the details here.
