Thanks for the reply.

In this case the Weblogic Cluster is already running on NT, because, as you
mention, BEA no longer support running on the iSeries.

I was just hoping to use the iSeries as the load balancing web server in
front of the cluster, since this is in effect a single point of failure.

However unless someone comes up with something I'll have to find an intel
box to do it on.....

As best I can tell no one else has responded to you so I'll give you my
2 cents worth on BEA WEBLOGIC on the Isereis.

You're going to find that a lot of features you can take advantage of on
the WINTEL box were not included in the ISERIES implementation. We
abandoned weblogic a while back due to a combination of poor tech
support for the Iseries and a lack of commitment from bea to port the
new versions to the platform.

I suggest you find yourself a windows or linux box to use as your APACHE
load balance platform since you apparently have no $$$ to place a
hardware load balancer or some other solution on line.

I'm investigating putting a load-balancing web server in front of a
Weblogic

I was planning to use Apache HTTP with the weblogic plugin for this.

I had hoped to be able to use the HTTP Server on the iSeries for this
(something more reliable than a Wintel box, and besides, if the database

down, who cares if you can't access the cluster...)

But digging around in the documentation for mod_so it states that:
"The mod_so module provides for loading of executable code and modules
into
the server at startup or restart time. On the iSeries server, the loaded
code comes from a service program object with a .SRVPGM extension. "

I assume that this means that IBM have re-written mod_so to use native
os/400 objects, rather than apache .so objects like the weblogic plugin,
mod_wl_20.so.

Does anyone know of anyway round this problem, or should I just give up
now?

Or does anyone have any better suggestions for load balancing (with a
budget
of $0 of course)...
