Gary, Your example seems to work fine on my V5R2 system with the 1.3 JDK. I tried the latest jtopen version of jt400Native.jar and the system jar. Here is how I set my classpath: export -s CLASSPATH=.:/QIBM/UserData/Java400/ext/db2_classes.jar I compiled and ran it using: javac -target 1.3 Foo.java java -Djava.version=1.3 Foo When I run this with -verbose, I do see this: Loading class com/ibm/db2/jdbc/app/DB2Savepoint.class from /QIBM/ProdData/OS400/Java400/ext/db2_classes.jar The only difference I can see is that I do have the 1.4 JDK installed. You might try installing the 1.4 JDK without changing anything else to see if it works. At least then you would have it narrowed down and you would have done a minimal change. David Morris >>> garyp@xxxxxxxxxxxx 8/15/2003 9:12:52 AM >>> Fred -- Thanks for your response. I appreciate your statement that: "db2_classes.jar is not JDK nor JDBC version specific. We have written it in such a way that for any JDK currently supported by the iSeries, it will work." However, I think you'll find that the following program: public class Foo { public static void main(String[] argv) throws Exception { Class.forName("com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver"); java.sql.Connection jdbcConnection = java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:db2:*LOCAL/SIMBROWSE", "", ""); } } causes: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: java/sql/Savepoint when running under J2SDK 1.3.
