Not exactly what you are looking for based on the subject, but did you guys consider VisualAge RPG? It would give you the GUI your users are looking for, but all your RPG programmers can get up to speed on it a lot quicker than having to learn Java. Plus you can re-use the back-end business logic more directly. Only bad part is that it runs on PCs only. It will generate Java though(no experience with that). -- Scott Johnson > -----Original Message----- > From: java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:java400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of TitanRebel > Sent: Wednesday, July 23, 2003 5:04 PM > To: Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 > Subject: Re: RPG to Java Conversion > > > Sorry for the delayed response...busy day. > > In a nutshell, what we are doing is Servlet/JSP for simple navigation > and simple applications with less complex UI requirements. > However, the > bulk of our effort has been using Swing Applets comunicating XML over > HTTP to Servlet(s), which may or may not be using existing > RPG logic to > return results to the Applet. > > A couple of things I didn't point out in the original email > were that we > are enhancing existing functionality of these legacy > applications while > moving parts of them to Java.
