Actually, I sent this question to Mr. Gibbs privately, but what the heck,
it's YOUR forum as well, so I figured I'd ask you, too.

When creating something for the FAQ from a post in JAVA400-L, do you think
it's better to have a link to the post in the archives, copy the post into
the FAQ, or do both?  I suppose if the post has a lot of extraneous
information, you might want to extract only the relevant stuff.  But it
seems like a waste to double post everything.

And if you're pointing to a big long piece on the Internet, like an IBM
redpiece or even an Infocenter page, it's probably not a good idea to post
the whole thing here, but instead to post a link.

On the downside, the problem is that links go stale.  IBM in particular has
a nasty habit of rearranging their site a couple of times a year in a way
that invalidates all links.  Now we know David's archive links will never go
stale <grin> but other links are not so sure to be valid over time.

Anyway, just popping this out as a question.
