Great suggestion! Thank you. I thought I would have to destroy the JVM to handle garbage collection. Of course, the JVM would then need to be re-started for the next method call. Assuming I'm not going to call any more Java methods in the current job, would destroying the JVM still be a viable alternative to explicitly cleaning up objects? Until fairly recently I thought it was necessary to code explicit frees for every object, but there's a way to free many objects at once. | D env s * | c eval env = getJniEnv() | c callp beginObjGroup (env : 10000) c eval sendMsg = crtString(msg) ... | c callp endObjGroup (env) c EVAL *INLR = *ON See the FAQ for the procedures I've used here, FAQ entry "How do I free Java objects that I have created from RPG". http://faq.midrange.com/data/cache/1.html Search for "rpg java" _______________________________________________ This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
