Pete, You sound just like me. You might take a look at a couple of books published by 29th Street Press - the iSeries Network folks. One is "iSeries & AS/400 VisualAge for Jave" by Jerry Ropelato and the other is "Java and the AS/400" by Daniel Darnell. If you get the iSeries magazine you will get a nice discount on the books. I have taken a basic beginning java class - three hours one night a week for two months - and nothing registered. I have read one paper after another on java. It is like speaking English all your life and all of a sudden needing to speak Russian. I am not developing applications yet, but the books were a big help. Jerry's book actually gives you a step by step - don't leave anything out - short course in developing an actual working AS/400 application in java. Daniel's book explains a lot of stuff that the non-RPGer's take for granted. DT
