That helps... <my two cents> I'd like both options... The templates are nice; I can applications for this feature. I tend to look at the code by implementation; if I never see the code for the entire class in a single window I'd be ok. The wizard is nice for me to prompt me to think about the modifiers I need for the method (or instance variable) and getting customized javadoc insures there is at least *something* there (parms, types, return) </my two cents> dan -----Original Message----- From: Don Yantzi [mailto:yantzi@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, May 07, 2003 11:42 AM To: Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 Subject: Re: Websphere studio / Eclipse Dan, You can use templates to do this in WDSc 5.0, WSSD 5.0 and WSAD 5.0. Templates are used in conjunction with the content assist feature to insert blocks of code. For example: In the Java editor enter public and then press Ctrl + Space. Select public_method from the list of suggestions and you get a basic public method. The cursor is initially positioned over the return type, so just start entering the return type then press tab to enter the method name and tab once more to enter the parameters. To customize the code that gets inserted go to Window -> Preferences then Java -> Templates. Here you can add, remove and modify templates. For example you could add a customized JavaDoc comment for the public method. IMHO templates are better for this than a full blown wizard because: a. You don't have to start a full GUI wizard (quicker once you get used to them) b. They are customizable and you can easily add your own. I can't remember off hand if this was in the V4.0 based tools or not (and I don't have access to a machine with V4.0 installed right now.) VAJ had a nice dialog box that had modifiers and generated Javadoc headers. Seems like it should be there..... thanks dan _______________________________________________ This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l. _______________________________________________ This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
