David, The JDBC connection pool implementation in commons-dbcp has a property you can set to check the connection to make sure it is still valid. Their docs say to set the property to a SQL SELECT statement that will return 1 row. Apparently, it also has to be able to return at least the 1 row to work. So my guess, is that is the only way to really tell. Hoe this helps. I basically want to make sure a JDBC connection is working, but without putting a load on the system. Thanks! david _______________________________________________ This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
