David, Yes, I would be interested. If you could send me the details, or an example, that would be great. I am basically just looking for something that can work equally well under WebSphere or Tomcat. This pretty much means going with something based on DBCP. What I like about the Struts approach is that it is configured entirely within my web app, vs. in the application server. Your approach sounds similar. The main thing I probably need to know is which combination of drivers/classes works best. Thanks Mark To: <java400-l@midrange.com> cc: bcc: Subject: Re: Struts or DBCP Pooling and Toolbox "David Morris" <David.Morris@plumcreek.com> Sent by: java400-l-bounces@midrange.com 01/28/2003 04:56 PM MST Please respond to Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 <font size=-1></font> Mark, I do not use a Struts data source, but I do use Struts and DBCP, which is the underlying support that Struts uses. In our case it was helpful to be able to dynamically pick the driver based on the environment -- native or thin. This also facilitated setting the effective user for the thread running the SQL statement when running natively. If you are interested in this option let me know and I will give you an example (which was based on the Struts implementation). Did you use the Toolbox DataSource driver or the DBCP BasicDataSource and the normal Toolbox JDBC classes. Any pros/cons?
