I have a Java process running on a Windows NT Server which runs 24*7 (or as close as Windows allows!) and waits for requests placed on an iSeries (AS400) data queue. During maintenance periods on the AS400 the connection will drop and I want the Java process to keep trying to connect until successful. In my tests running in DOS I have found that the Java throws up a signon prompt if, for instance, the user or password is wrong but when running as a service there is nowhere for the prompt to appear (or be asnwered) and so the process hangs. Does anyone know if there is a way to suppress this prompt when using AS400.class to connect? Although the user/password is not going to change I am worried that if connection is attempted while the AS400 is coming up that a similar unanswerable prompt will come up and effectively block the Java process from reconnecting.
