On your AS/400 if you WRKSYSVAL QCURSYM (Currency Symbol) you should see that it is set for £. So when the AS/400 sees the $ character, it translates it to £. Your PC, on the other hand, is not doing any translation of the $ to £. I don't' think there's a work around. $ and £ on the AS/400 seem to be the same character. Regards, Jim Langston -----Original Message----- From: Patrick.F.O'Dowd@gsk.com [mailto:Patrick.F.O'Dowd@gsk.com] Hi, I have a java program running on an AS400 that writes transactions to an MQSeries queue. The queue is on an NT machine. When I retrieve the message from the queue on NT, I am finding some characters are converted incorrectly e.g. the £ sign sent from the as400 ends up as a $ dollar sign on NT. When I FTP between the AS400 and the PC, I get the same problems. Any ideas? Thanks Note - I need a programmable solution if possible as I cant change system values etc.. (due to a large number of applications that could potentially be impacted on production machines...)
