Martin,

Yes and no.

I am having a similar problem with an open source java application. The
application expects you to hit Ctrl-C on the console to trigger its
shutdown. I run this application interactively in Qshell. IBM says that
Ctrl-C generates a SIGINT, and to generate a SIGINT in qsh you use sysreq 2.
The problem is that when sysreq 2 is performed on the iSeries, the
application ends immediately and you are returned to a qsh command line. It
does not come down smoothly like it does on a PC (the only other platform
I've tried it on). It is as if all of the shutdownhook code is never
executed.

I have reported this to IBM. So far, all that has been determined is that
with a simple example, the shutdownhook code IS indeed executed when a
sysreq 2 is performed in qsh.

When I read your post, I tried running my simple example program in batch
(via RUNJVA) and then cancelling the job. Like yours, the shutdownhook code
was not executed. However, I did see in one of the joblogs that it was a
SIGHUP rather than SIGINT, so perhaps these are two different problems,
although I suspect they are related.

It seems your problem is easy to recreate. You should bring it to IBM's
attention and see if they can help.
