I haven't worked with WebSphereStudio 3.5 at all. I use WSAD IE 4.1. However, the Custom Tags process sounds similar. In WSAD, you can get your custom tags to appear by including valid <%@ taglib ...> directive in your JSP file. They have a fancy way to do this in WSAD with Page | Page Properties | JSP Tags but I just usually type the taglib directive in myself.
